I was looking for a cleaver idea on how to use one room as if it were two. My husband has seldom used office, but we did not have an extra guestroom. So, after thumbing through many “how to do” magazines, I found the solution. It was simple, cleaver and fairly inexpensive, I used upholstered headboards. I screwed two headboards, placed side by side, along one wall and placed a twin bed lengthwise along the wall, butting up to the upholstered headboards. I next covered the bed with an, easily removable slipcover in a denim fabric. This created a couch/bed look. A small three drawer chest was placed on the opposite wall, for use by the room’s guest. The two file cabinets were placed a few feet apart under the window. I placed a wood grained Formica board on top of the cabinets, forming a shelf for the computer and printer. I added a nice floor lamp and a few brightly colored throw pillows. My husband still has his office and I now have a neat guest room. The best thing is that the upholstered headboards are available in many colors so what ever color scheme you chose, you will find a headboard to fit in.
